Dog leaks urine sometimes

My dog leaks urine sometimes what could be causing this?

Answer from Dr. Gaylord Brown:
Urinary tract infections can cause leakage, so this needs to be ruled out first. Other conditions that can cause urine leakage are urinary tract tumors or neural problems in the lower back. A small percentage of spayed female dogs will leak urine even without these medical problems. Usually this happens when they are sleeping. It is caused by poor tone to the urethrae. Treatment with diphenhydramine will help this condition. You need to have a veterinarian examine your dog to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
