What did they do for dogs with Bacteria Infections back 50-60’s before there where Antibiotics?

My dog is 9yrs old French Mastiff she had it back in March this year, I think she has it again same symptoms and I don’t have the money to take her back to the Vet. Wondering if theres anything I can try without Antibiotics?

Unfortunately, many infections we consider minor today were lethal prior to antibiotic therapy. Support of hydration and nutrition while allowing the body to heal was often all that could be done. Of course there were herbs that had some medicinal qualities that are still available but these often rival the cost of appropriate antibiotics. You do not state your pet’s symptoms.
