Yes, FIP is devastating once clinical symptoms develop. At the Sanctuary we treat these cats with antibiotics, prednisolone, vitamin C, vitamin B12, vitamin B complex, and appetite stimulants. If they have a fever we use antipyretics to keep their temperature below 104. We will tap off fluid if they have the wet form of the disease to take pressure off the diaphragm and organs. However, the loss of protein is significant and this must be done with care. We pay attention to their comfort level and we will let them go rather than let them suffer.
