Our neighbor abandoned their cat when they moved. We took it to the vet to be neutered and found out he is FIV+. We already have 2 cats and 2 dogs and are moving to a place that only allows 2 pets
my husband died & daughter moved in with 3 cats...about 4 months ago...I have 2 cat's..both about 10 yrs. old..we have introduced them very slowly. Until about 2 weeks ago he was friendly with the female, they even played so we can't figure out why he is attacking her now?
Do you think that CBD oil can help a kitten with FIP ( non wet) type? If so, how many MLG of what strength.
Our 18 month old lab attacked our maltese last night, severely wounding him. He is in ICU and may lose both eyes and has a punctured main artery. He almost bled to death. Our lab has bitten all of us, including two children not in our family. Zeus I a beautiful dog, very friendly and obedient, but unpredictably territorial. we can't even board him now because he growls and shows teeth to anyone but me. I love this dog, but I can't keep him because I fear he will attack my kids and other dog again. I don't know what to do.
My 10 year old cat hates for her back to be touched. Lately she has started to bite and lick the area. She has flakes of shin in her hair near her tail. Could it just be dry skin or an allergy?
Trying CO Q-10, cannabis, and vitaminn C to save his eye
About a year ago our dog developed panic about noises. It started with panic about garbage grucks and has only gotten worse, to the point that he won’t go for his walks. Now we have to drive him to nearby dog parks and even then he is panicky about passing traffic sounds. We’ve tried natural anti-anxiety drops, trazodone and nothing has helped. What can we do?
I am not sure of her age but she is still small. Her pelvis looks malformed. She seems unable to use one back leg at all and the other leg is at least strong enough for her to stand on when standing still. She appears healthy (and happy) otherwise. I am not sure how well she handles going potty but she eats well. Neighbors someone asked her to dog-sit and then never came back and are not returning her calls. Neighbor cannot afford much veterinary care. Any suggestions?
My 16 yr old chi rat terrier mix has a heart murmur n is taking Furosemide 12.5 meds 3x day for excess water n Pimobenden 5mg .25 every 12 hrs. Still has a cough. Should I ask for a different heart med or water pill? Jake is doing fine otherwise. Thank y’all for all you do for our fur babies!!!
Will a cat have to have surgery if it cannot get rid of a hairball
Two vets confirmed pemphigus complex in my large otherwise very very active 12 year old female royal std poodle of 65 Pounds. She takes long walks and eats great! Also has fresh rotisserie sams chicken, broccoli, and cauliflower in her diet. Plus nutro ultra. Prednisone 10 mg 2x day, milk thistle 175 mg 2x day, synoviG4, And doxycycline 100 mg 2x day Help Maintain, but do not cure, the problem mainly with bulbous nose and red-pink gums. She has great gums, teeth with brushing and zymox gel otherwise, no swelling, absessed teeth.. Azathioprine 50 mg 1x day worked great but significantly raised her liver values. Should we try chlorambucil (cyclosporin)?

I am afraid to give nexquard or frontline. I dont want anything to interfere with the prednisone he is on. Right now the lymph nodes have all shrunk and I think putting a topical of frontline on could cause problems. Would I be better off using the seresto collar and put on when we walk and take off when he is at home? We have never used the collar before.
What brands are the best if there are any that fit this question?
My dog was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 oral melanoma. She is currently taking tramadol to control pain, and frankincense is being used to help fight the cancer, but I have seen literature contraindicating the use of both concurrently in humans. Do you have any insight regarding the use of both in dogs? We are currently without many treatment options given her stage, and are focusing on management and keeping her as comfortable and healthy for as long as possible.
Hello, as I indicated my nearly 14 years old Chow Chow had a seizure for the first time ever on Monday,9/18/2017. My 30 years old son took her to "MedVet Emergency Center". She had another seizure in route to Vet and a third one at Vet. I was out of town and the Vet "would not begin treatment without payment for services rendered". So, my son called me back and I provided my credit card for payment of $337.62, for them to "put my dog on IV fluids and a load dose of phenobartital(?sp)".However, when I arrived back in town at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, I noticed no IV bag attached to the IV cathater and asked ,how long off? To my shock and dismayed, Dr. informed me she "had not been on IV fluids...had a fever of 104,...that's why on metal floor of kennel...no mat..." I insisted and requested IV fluid and pain medication Within less than 2 hours fever reduced to 102, my dog's breathing was visible and she blinked her eyes when I petted her. That Vet was clearly not caring and my plan was for stablization (fluids for severe dehydration, anti seizure medication so that I could transport my puppy to her regular doctor who cared about her. So, contacted her doctor and she made it through the night(blood work from noncaring Vet revealed blood cell counts "all normal, only way outside of normal range was indication of level of dehydration". Is there anything other than comfort care (continued IV fluids, anti-seizure medication and pain mefication, oh and "her glucose reading indicating very low", so that Rx)that can or should be done to reduce her discomfort? All that the non-caring Vet had her on before my arrival was "valium to calm her after third seizure when she arrived Monday". I am not asking about euthnasia like those individuals at non-caring Vet suggested. Something to reduce the torture and trauma from 18 hours of no fluids, 3 seizures. Regular Doctor is caring her now and she is not as comatose appearing as she was when I arrived yesterday at 6:00 pm.
A mole very small appeared on my cats side it isn't getting bigger. Are moles normal or should I take him in to have it examined? He's a medium hair tuxedo cat.
I have taken her to the vet and they checked her out and said she was healthy I even got the aromatherapy that makes them more comfortable I have to move and its to a place with carpet should I keep her in the garage and leave the door slightly open so she can go in and out or do you have other recommendations I do not want to give her up over this
Hello, my name is Dr Suzanne Gibson, and I recently hired as staff vet at Old Friends Senior Dog Rescue in TN. I was wondering if you could give me some advice on which software program you use to keep track of everyone? We have around 100 dogs in house and 200 in foster homes. I am also curious as to which distributors you use for vaccines, HW and Flea/Tick prevention. I was just hired and have a lot to do! Any advise you can provide me would be appreciated. Thank you so much!
I was hoping you could help me with more details ore a direction to go. I am currently on disability and my akita husky suddenly stopped walking. I spent thousands of dollars with a wrong diagnosis of two torn ACL's. We only have xrays that doesnt show much of anything. She is taking Prednisone along with an array of meds to keep her out out pain and to stop anything that happened. This is the hardest desicion of my life and I desperately need an MRI to at least know whats causing her half paralysis. Least the next step will be easier. Please Help!
I have a friend that recently moved into a brand new home. Her cat has started to use her white banister as a scratching post. She has put out a few scratching posts, but he is not interested in them. She also cuts his nails. She is considering declawing him! Told her that that is barbaric and to try other means like nail caps, double sided tape or Feliway or if this fails rehoming him. He is a very cool cat by the way! What are your thoughts on declawing?
Doctor, My l3 year old Shepherd-Vizsla mix, 75 lbs, had a calcium reading of 13, scale of 11 high normal, in 2014. Today, she has a calcium reading of 16. What could be the cause of this, and what can be done about it? Thank you.
We came home on Friday at 5:00 PM to discover our 8 month old kitten in full respiratory distress. We believe his crisis started with him losing control of his bowels in the hallway, then crawling, unable to catch his breath and panting to the downstairs bathroom cabinet under the sink, where we found him. Upon picking him up, he screamed and yowled all the way to the car. We rushed him to emergency vet where he was excreting foam and blood from the mouth. He was immediately treated with pure oxygen and lasiks, later, chest x-rays were obtained and full blood panel. His lungs were full of fluid. Blood work was mostly positive -- kidneys and liver good. Hematocrit elevated (I believe -- not enough oxygen circulating in the blood.) and his blood sugar was almost triple. Later, he was tested for FIV, FELP heartworm. Only heartworm was positive. He was discharged home to us the following day after one large dose of antibiotic and prednisolone. We have an appointment to follow-up with his vet tomorrow. My concern, of course, is recurrence when the worms die off. There are only a handful of alternative treatments mentioned for cats online and I know in the wrong dosage, wormwood (for example) can be toxic. I'm interested in knowing your thoughts or experience with food grade diatomaceous earth and/or pumpkin seed oil? Thank you!
My dog was diagnosed with a huge list of allergies, ive tried a couple things to try to keep it under control. Every year it seems to get Worst and worst. I need help BAD!
Our puppy is 13 years and 4 months old. Doctor says "due to location of cyst at vagina-area, risk with surgery because of age plus location. We use dog diapers to absorb bleeding from ruptured cyst and change approximately 3 times a day for walking bathroom breaks. Is there anything that can reduce bleeding. was infected with disturbing odor. The antibiotics worked.
I have an 8 year old British bulldog who about a year ago jumped off my bed and hurt her front shoulder. She's been to the vet many times and had anti inflammitories and will be ok for a few weeks then start limping again. They we're going to xray as a last resort as I'm on disability and just have no money. I myself have been bed ridden for 12 years with a nerve disease crps and unable to walk. Recently I started on cannabis oil and my pain is almost gone and I'm walking So I'm wondering if I can give her a drop and how often if I can?
I have a cat that is 11 months old and has been told he had fip dry form, could hemp oil help him? If so do you have any that you could recommend ?
My cat is 15 and has kidney disease. I have him on a perscription diet, sub fluids, BP meds and azodyl. The initial bloodwork he had BUN level at 92 and CREA at 5.5 which is apparently quite high. After doing the treatments for a few months the levels have not changed. I was previously told if the levels didn't lower it would only be a matter of time and not much more could be done. He now apparently has a slight heart murmur, a bladder stone and lost 1lb from 6lb to 5lb. My vet suggested he go to a cardiologist to check on his heart and get surgery for the bladder stone removal. I'm wondering if I should proceed with the surgery? I know he is sick and his situation is incurable and based on all the information it seems like it wouldn't prolong his life much more.
I have a husky that was abandoned and mistreated that was found at a foreclosed home. He was malnourished and injured, but doing better now. I have him registered and fixed in hopes of finding a permanent home for him but to no avail. If you can help fond a home or take him in id really appreciate it and donate time or money to the rescue. Thank you
He does it regularly. If i do t pick up right away he will eat it.
Do you ever adopt these pets out that you save. Is there a way to adopt one?
Are the animals at D.E.L.T.A. Rescue all neutered so they don't procreate?
My son's Boston Terrier was fine during the winter, but the moment the grass started growing (might be Bermuda grass) the dog is red on his paws, muzzle and belly. What do you recommend for this? I know replanting the yard would be great, but not sure if he can afford to do that at this time.
Thank you Dr. Gaylord for your Quick and helpful response. Your answer amazes me. So the niacin( vitamin B3) must be extraordinary for inflammation and I find it most intriguing the hemorrhoid cream would work as well as it does help to shrink inflamed blood vessels. And I will definitely use the bullfrog sunscreen. You didn't mention the prednisone she is on do you think the niacin might be better. Jenny is a 65 pound Australian shepherd mix the fourth of four of our adopted shelter dogs. We have been a supporter of Delta Rescue for many years and agree most affirmatively with Leo Grillo's care for life animal sanctuary. Bless your efforts and kind care always!
