My 3 yr old lab has a lung disease.

Has lymph node and spots on lungs getting worse. On antibiotics for 2 months. Now on diflucan for valley fever, even though 2 tests have been negative. He eats well, but is tired and lethargic and wheezes. No fever now. The suggested a lung wash. Is that the same as endoscopy? Where would you go for someone that could do this risky procedure? What would you do? We need a diagnosis. Help.

A lung wash is not the same as endoscopy and not as risky. A saline solution is put into the upper airways and immediately aspirated back out. The purpose is to get cells for culture and histopathology.

This test may be very useful. Certainly if you have been treating for over two months without success another opinion is advised. Ask for a referral to a board Certified Internist. If lymph nodes are swollen in the exterior as well, a biopsy of the lymph node may be valuable.
