Is laser cataract surgery done on cats?

We rescued a tiny kitten 15 years ago who had only one eye. We don’t know what happened to the other eye. Recently, we noticed her walking into walls and took her for an exam. Her eye looks foggy. The doctor said that she has gone blind. She has managed incredibly well in spite of it. She has memorized the house and our routines very well. Is it possible she only has cataracts? If I could afford to give her back her sight, I most certainly would. Thanks, Dean in Houston, TX

There are veterinary ophthalmologists and cataract surgery is a definite possibility. Your first step is to get an exam by such an ophthalmologist and see if your cat’s condition is amenable to surgery. Your regular veterinarian should be able to give you a referral.
