can I feed my dog carrots even thouigh she’s on KD diet?

My 11 yr old is in renal failure. BUN is 100. Besides the KD food (Science Diet) is it OK to give her fresh carrots and also can she still have her Greenie once in a while? Is there a homeopathic diet for this disease. She is in the advanced stage.

I am sorry your dog is going through this problem. Renal failure is one of the most common diseases of the elderly. Carrots would not disrupt the benefit of K/D, nor will an occasional Greenie. Though, on another note, I do not recommend Greenies. There is a homemade recipe for K/D available on the Hill’s website.
