I have a 10 yer old dog and she weighs 95 lbs. She recently started oozing from her Anus , not a lot but we are trying to keep her clean and there are signs of discharge every time we wipe her and the odor is somewhat over-whelming . Could this be an Anal Gland infection of some kind and what do we do for treatment .
my question is regarding the heat wave we have been going thourgh in chicago. my young female boxer/pit mix has been eating grass and vomiting since the day before yesterday. she has been drinking only a small amount of water, but will not eat. this morning she vomited yellow micus like liquid. what can i do to help her?
Enter your question here About a year ago, my toy poodle began to pace the floor and then started uncontrolable shaking and panting. I took her to an emergency vet clinic.. They took x-rays and did extensive blood work and really didn’t come up with any conclusion. They did give me tramadol which calmed her. This behavior started again a week ago. I have taken her to the vet but again no distinct cause. Could this be some type of seizure? It is happening more frequently. They did give me tramadol and it seems to help. She is 11 years old.
My dogs shiba inu are both on iverhart max. How ever one month my one dog Brina 14 years old didn’t want her monthly dosage. She maybe ate 1/2 of it not sure. Any how I noticed one day she
was throwing up and on her fur along the side of her body was a round worm about 3 inches long . Was so gross. Any took it to the vet. She said that
she should not have worms when taking the iverhart. Which I agree with. So instead of giving me a regulare wormer for this she said give her a monthly dose of the iverhart. Then is 2 weeks give her another one. Then go back to once a month. Is this normal and safe to give my 14 year old a double dose of iverhart. What do you think. Thank you so much for your answer.
Thank you Cindy
Our cat Lucy disappeared right after we moved to a new house. We’d given up ever seeing her again when six weeks to the day she reappeared at our back door. She was extremely thin but otherwise fine except for completely missing one of her front claws.
We figured the nail was gone for good but then about two months after she returned we noticed she smelled like poop when she got in our laps. Of course the first time we made her get down and figured she’d just been in the litter box. But when we noticed the same smell two days later we checked her foot and discovered that the missing toenail was now just beginning to grow back. She is very compliant about letting us soak her foot in hydrogen peroxide, and if we keep up with the soaking the smell gets very faint. As soon as we stop the soaking ritual the toe starts to smell again. We’ve kept the nail trimmed as it continues to grow back. It is slightly discolored (like there is dried blood inside it) and somewhat dry and hollow looking. She’s never shown any discomfort, but the darn thing still smells like poop after almost six months no matter how much we soak and trim it. Any suggestions?
I rescued Zak as a puppy fron No. Shore animal league – he is now 8yrs. old and for the last 5yrs to present time when I am at work he digs holes in the walls in my home, they are usually 4×4 holes along with the insulation. They are usually be a door so I believe he wants to be near me. He has been on doggie prozak for just a little while and still makes his holes. I have 8 holes in my house some have been fixed and he eats a hole again right down to the studs. Some are saying this is a calcium deficiency. How would you know? So I’m asking you HELP – any advice would be helpfull.

I have a question about tapeworm. I have a dachsund that has seizures all the time. We put her on medication and it didn’t help only made things worse. Recently I found a large long white flat worm with a flat tentacle looking thing on the end of it on the couch. I was wondering. Is this tapeworm and could it be causing her seizures. Also, since finding this worm I have been finding these little pieces of what appears to be worm sacks laying on the couch. I called the local vet and she said indeed it did sound like tapeworm but to just worm her. I tried worming her and it didn’t do anything to get rid of the worms. What should I do? Can you suggest the right wormer for this situation. Thank you so much. I enjoy watching your show.

I just adopted a rescue dog that was a back yard breeder for about 5 yrs. She is a Yorkie and about 5 yrs. old, 6 lbs.
I also have another Yorkie 16 years old.
These two get along but are distant and my new little girl will not come near me and she just does seem to trust me.
How long will it take her to accept us.
I live in a town house and when we are down stairs she is up and when we go up she is down stairs. Thank you.
My cat is 13 years old and she lives with 2 other cats (12 and @7-9). In May she started walking in circles and her behavior towards the cats changed (she was always dominant). I took her to the vet who said he suspected vestibular disease and he suggested glucosamine. This gave her diarhea (not immediately) so I stopped it after about 2 weeks. She also had bloodwork done (all norman). 2 months later, she has lost 2 lbs and is eating very little. I started giving her food every four hours and she would lick it a very times. She went back to the vet this past Friday who said it looked really bad and prescribed prednisolone 5 mg and gave her a shot of it also. She stopped walking in circles but completely refuses to eat. I tried to force feed her but she spits it up or vomits. She is starving herself. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it. If only information I can take to the vet. SHe has always been an indoor cat (I have had her since she was 6 weeks old) and she has always been healthy. Thank you.
Skin is turning black, scaleing and smells bad. Constant ear problems, infections. She is on antibiotics and ear meds. ( cephalexin 1000 mg 2x a day, genesis topical spray, chorhexidine flush and moltic 15 gr gentizol )Ears seem better but skin seems the same. She has also gained alot of weight over the last year. Vet has done blood work but havent gotten results back yet, it has been almost three weeks now. I have seen different things about black skin disease, any home remides or thoughts from you would be helpful.
Recently, our 3 and half year old male Italian Greyhound started to abnormal licking. He seems to just lay there and continually lick his lips. His tongue goes in and out, in and out for extended periods of time. He may periodically start licking his paws, chest, or even anyone who picks him up during this cycle.
This all started a month or so ago when he misteriously stopped eating and showed this behavior. Then, the licking usually was followed by him throwing up. Ultrasounds and blood tests revealed nothing. After dealing with dehydration, we were finally able to spoon fead him soft food three days later, which he would lick in. Slowly he gained strength and is now eating normally again. The licking episodes come much less frequent, but still come.
I have a 9 year old dachshund. For the past 5 years she has had skin allergies and anal sac problems. She is on ZD food which has relieved alot of the skin allergies, but every other month needs to have her anal sacs excreted. They do not leak, but she scoots and licks her bottom when they get filled. I read that giving her Benefiber and fish oil might help. Is this true? If so how much should I give? I have Welactin for my other dog. Would this help my dachshund? Any other suggestions, besides surgery, to help with having to always bring her to the vet to have the sacs excreted? Thanks!
We have a problem with spraying. I have a 9 year old adult cat that has been neutred since 6 months old. He has never sprayed. We just acquired a 9 month old male cat who has just been nneutered (3 days ago). He has started spraying and I don’t know what to do. The area that has been sprayed has been in the adult’s cat’s bedroom, litterbox and the kitten actually got on my bed and sprayed my comforter and pillows. I don’t want to get rid of the cat, just don’t know what to do. Please help.
We recently lost a 12 year old male cat to cancer. We have another 12 year old female in good health. The two had lived together for most of that time. Can we bring a new kitten into the home without issues? The older female is somewhat shy and protective. We’re worried that she needs a companion but also that she may reject the new kitten?? Looking for advise.
