I have a question about…Liver Disease

My 4 1/2 yrs old Lab Mix was diagnosed with Chronic Active Hepatitis and is scheduled for an ultrasound then a liver biopsy. Is the biopsey really important. Not sure if treatment is very successful and if left untreated can my dog live a few more years without the painful experience of hospitalization, medicines, etc.

Bloodspot on 14 yr old chihuahua’s iris

My chihuahua has what looks like a blood spot on the iris of his eye. I first noticed it about 2 weeks ago. He also has what looks like a skin tag on the outer corner of his eye (The vet said to leave it since it doesn’t seem to bother him). My major concern is the blood spot – it does not appear to be affecting his vision. The earliest vet appointment I could get is next week, but I’ll a nervous wreck until then.

At the end of my rope…

I need guidance on where to turn. I have two teenaged cats. They are litter mates and have only been separated twice since birth. I am relocating and cannot take them with me. I am heartbroken and do not with to put them down if I can avoid it. I have searched everywhere but it seems everyone is full.

HELLLLLLLLLLLLP

Brown spots on her gums.

I have a 16 month old mixed breed female dog. I recently noticed some brown spots on her gums just above her teeth. They are only on one side. Her teeth are very clean and the gums are otherwise pink and healthy looking. Should I be concerned about a possible health issue?

cat sprays and urinates on laundry

I have 4 cats. They are all neutered. Hollywood chooses the laundry and bath mat to his litter box. He also sprays and attempts to spray in various places when we are out for a walk. Please help me to help him change behavior. He also suffers from posession and jealousy.I do give them all individual attention.

I have a question about…wound care

A couple of my dogs got into a scrap and one took a bite to a front leg, a puncture to the front and a superficial rip to the back (just above the “wrist”). The wounds themselves are healing (happened 4 days ago), but there’s persistent swelling below the wounds. What can I do to reduce the swelling?

I have a question about my 3(4) pets

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats but for the time being I only have 3 living with me and will explain why later which is part of my question.
I have a 12 yr old chihuahua/shih tzu mix he is 4.6lbs and still very active. I also have a maltese/yorkie mix, 3 yrs old, she is extremely needy and I have to sneak out of the house just to go somewhere or else she cries, scratches the doors, rips things up and occasionally potty’s in the house (she’s potty trained & I leave the door open for her to go out) is there anything I can do to make her a better dog (it’s getting very tiring)? I also have a 28week old kitten that I was wondering when I should get her fixed? She will be an inside only cat (living in an apartment). And my last question is about my Bengal cat, he’s 2 yrs old and is living with my grandma because he loves to be outside and can’t do that where I live. When I visit he stays by my side at all times and when I leave for a week or more sometimes he runs around the house looking for me crying, is that affecting him at all or after time he just forgets and goes back to being his normal self….
I know its long but I really care about all of my pets and need to know, during the day my 2 dogs hang outside until I’m home and sometimes overnight if I can’t make it home, is this wrong? Will it somehow harm them?

Thank you, Hailey

Plague sprays and solutions for my dog

Plague sprays and solutions that you add to a dogs water. What do you think about them? I try to brush my dogs teeth at least 3 times a week, but I have noticed her back teeth show plague on them. Do you think these sprays and solutions are ok. What about taking your dog to a pet shop to have their teeth cleaned. Is that ok? Thank you for answering!!

I have a question about…Larynx blockage

Enter your question here My lab retriever, age 12, has lost her ability to howl, and her normal bark has deteriorated into a raspy and higher-pitched voice. Her vet attributes this to age-related partial blockage of the larynx by a laryngeal “flap” which is characteristic of the breed. Can you tell me more about this? I’m concerned about the potential for my dog’s breathing to be adversely affected. Member Margaret Marshall-Mrakovcic
