Tri Pawed Beagle

Dr Brown, first I want to say I was so impressed to read about the mission of DELTA Rescue. It warms my heart.
I have a male 5 year old beagle that lost a rear leg. He refuses to stop running the wild life and this wears him out often times barely making it home dragging himself on his one good rear leg. He is in so much pain is there anything I can do for him. My vet gave some Glucosamine Chews and they help a bit. He was getting a little over weight after neutering so I put him on a diet which helped a bit also. Do I need to kennel him and not let him out every again? This makes me sad to think of but I hate seeing him in pain.
Thank you for your feedback.
