Dogs will develop stain, plaque, and tartar on their teeth over time. Veterinarians do recommend brushing your pet’s teeth at least three times a week. Eventually, the teeth will need to be professionally cleaned. We have a preventative dental program at the sanctuary. Coloration on the teeth is not the primary indicator for this to be done. The decision to clean the teeth is based on the amount of tartar and gum involvement. Have your pet’s mouth examined by a veterinarian to determine if a dental procedure is needed.
