My border collie mix is getting bumps all over in and out

At first, Zena had about 4 small dime size hard bumps in all different places. One was on her snout and one above her rear and she actually chewed them off. The one on her snout is now after about 4 mos. starting to grow back again. Recently, I felt a softer bump on the inside near her rear about the size of a quarter and a short while later another one popped up on the same side. Both are softer thant the outside bumps. She is eating and drinking and going to the bathroom with out any problems. She is very active. Recently, she took a long run and when she came back she looked like she was having a hard time with her back legs. Can this have anything to do with the bumps? I’m afraid to take her to the vet and find out she has cancer. I’ve heard that when they do a biopsy this could trigger a cancer. Is this possible? I have two other dogs and cannot afford one with cancer. I know because I tried with one dog in the past.

Most growths as you describe are not cancer. The smaller they are, the easier they are to treat. Overcome your apprehension and do what is best for your dog. Have her examined. The sore rear legs are probably not related to the growths and your veterinarian can help this situation as well.
