maltese biting
My daughter’s female maltese, Ella, is around 4yrs. old and she has a dominant personality. They recently got a female cat that she gets along with and they’ve moved to a new house. Ella has bitten my daughter twice, once when my daughter had her drop her bone and was picking it up, and once when she went to pick her up outside to put her on the grass. My daughter is trying to retrain her to go outside instead of pads now also. Is the biting from stress possibly? What do you suggest she do to correct Ella?

Physical forms of correction rarely work with these cases, it degenerates into physical abuse. This form of aggression is most likely dominance aggression. Your daughter will need a comprehensive training plan set up by a animal behaviorist to correct this problem. Stern verbal reprimand and redirection of behavior with reward for proper response is the focus of these plans.
