I have a question about…tapeworm
I have a question about tapeworm. I have a dachsund that has seizures all the time. We put her on medication and it didn’t help only made things worse. Recently I found a large long white flat worm with a flat tentacle looking thing on the end of it on the couch. I was wondering. Is this tapeworm and could it be causing her seizures. Also, since finding this worm I have been finding these little pieces of what appears to be worm sacks laying on the couch. I called the local vet and she said indeed it did sound like tapeworm but to just worm her. I tried worming her and it didn’t do anything to get rid of the worms. What should I do? Can you suggest the right wormer for this situation. Thank you so much. I enjoy watching your show.

Tape worms do require specific medications that are typically not available over the counter. We recommend Drontal Plus or Droncit for tapeworms. In addition, you must control fleas. Fleas are a required intermediate host for tapeworm development. I do not believe the seizures are related to the tapeworms.
