I have a question about shallow breathing and loss of appetite
I’ve been tracking my dog’s appetite and she’s eatting very little-approx 1/4C a day and she’s normally 45 lbs. The dog food she gets is a premium, holistic brand where they know the source of the meat. It’s a duck and sweet potato blend. The past few days her breathing has been a bit labored and she’s taking shallow breaths.
She still has BM and drinks water.
She has full access to the backyard during the AM and PM hours and gets a long walk once a week. This past time she seemed lethargic.
She tested HW negative last month, but I haven’t put her on any HW meds since we’re in urban SoCal and there haven’t been mosquitos out.
She does have a vet appt. soon but what do you suspect?

I suspect you have a medical emergency and your pet needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. There many possibilities with the symptoms you describe. However, I would put a heart problem at the top of the list. She could also have a tumor that is causing bleeding internally leading to shortness of breath. Do not delay, seek medical attention right away!
