I have a question about…Rex is 7 and when he gets up from a nap, his right rear leg causes him to limp.
Rex is about 7 and weighs about 74 pounds. He is 90% inside dog, but does get exercised daily. He is of pound variety… Recently when he gets up from a nap and in the mornings, his right rear leg causes him to limp. He was hit by a car as a puppy so I’m wondering if it’s arthritis? Does he need an x-ray? He eats Orajen food for adult dogs which has some Glucosamin in it. Is he in pain? He still runs during his exercise twice a day with what seems like no problem. What are your suggestions, please?

Your dog probably does have arthritis. I would recommend radiographs to assess the situation. Constant moderate exercise should be continued. When limping there is some level of pain. Discuss with your veterinarian the appropriate medication to use for this discomfort. Glucosamine and chondroitin would be beneficial at a higher dose than in the food you are using. We also use hemp oil in our athritic patients.
