I have a question about…my two large dogs.

I have a 5yr 10mo old German Shepherd Male and a Multi Breed 12yr 4mo old Female. Both of these dogs have started to throw up their food within 6 hours of their feedings. The food is barely digested. I have not changed the food I give them and have had them on it since November of 2010. I moved to Pahrump, NV from Las Vegas last March, but, this did not start until about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. Also, I moved to another place the 3rd of this month, but, it has not stopped. In fact this is when my Big Girl started to throw up.
I have been feeding them Ol’ Roy Kibbles Chunks & Chews. I am really worried about them and even though I have tried boiled Chicken with white rice plus rationing their water, it does not straighten them out. Can it be the food, or is it more serious? My Granddaughter who Just Graduated from Cal Poly has been accepted at Western in their Vet program. She also works for a vet in Glendora, CA and usually can answer most of my questions, but, this one is too serious. I am concerned about their overall health.
They are both rescues and I care (love) them very much. I have another new rescue, a Min Pin I actually rescued from a Breeder who was going to “get rid” of her because she was not a ‘money maker’ She is a problem child as she is 6yrs old, lived in a small kennel and has never been socialized, house trained or free with other dogs let alone 2 large dogs she is also jealous of the other two. Mine are used to in and out visitors, but, she is a keeper so far as she is not adoptable. This may also be a problem. Can you please help?
Thank You, Maggie Barnes, 1840 S Bannavitch, Pahrump, NV 89048

This site is not intended to take the place of an examination by a veterinarian. You need to have a relationship with a veterinarian who can see and examine your pets. That being said, I think the quality of the food you are feeding is poor. Long time use of this food may be causing the vomiting problem. Changing to a quality product could take a month to see results. We are using Blue Diamond food at the sanctuary.

Your recent rescue is unlikely to change, given her age. You need to adapt to her to make a suitable life for her. Separation from the other dogs, allowing visual interaction and sniffing through a fence may eventually lead to some socialization. Allow her to set the pace for developing a relationship with you. Use pads round the house and easy access to the outside for her to go to the bathroom.
