I have a question about my dog’s hot spots

Hi pet vet!!
My golden retriever, Sergeant, is about 8 and half years old. Recently he has been getting these big hot spots on the lower part of legs. Today we noticed that Sergeant’s leg looks like it’s a little swollen and he has been moving very slowly. We are planning on taking him to the vet at the end of the week. Is this something that we should be concerned about ?

  • Dr. Gaylord Brown:

Swelling of the extremities can be due to edema, fluid accumulation. This may be due to a heart condition leading to poor circulation. It may also be due to swelling of the lymph nodes or a lack of activity because of arthritis. A good exam will determine the cause and treatment needed.

  • I would definitely get him to the vet asap… I hope he gets well very soon….
