I have a question about my 3(4) pets

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats but for the time being I only have 3 living with me and will explain why later which is part of my question.
I have a 12 yr old chihuahua/shih tzu mix he is 4.6lbs and still very active. I also have a maltese/yorkie mix, 3 yrs old, she is extremely needy and I have to sneak out of the house just to go somewhere or else she cries, scratches the doors, rips things up and occasionally potty’s in the house (she’s potty trained & I leave the door open for her to go out) is there anything I can do to make her a better dog (it’s getting very tiring)? I also have a 28week old kitten that I was wondering when I should get her fixed? She will be an inside only cat (living in an apartment). And my last question is about my Bengal cat, he’s 2 yrs old and is living with my grandma because he loves to be outside and can’t do that where I live. When I visit he stays by my side at all times and when I leave for a week or more sometimes he runs around the house looking for me crying, is that affecting him at all or after time he just forgets and goes back to being his normal self….
I know its long but I really care about all of my pets and need to know, during the day my 2 dogs hang outside until I’m home and sometimes overnight if I can’t make it home, is this wrong? Will it somehow harm them?

Thank you, Hailey

Your maltese/yorkie suffers from separation anxiety. There is drug therapy available for this condition. One such medication is clomicalm, however; most believe behavior modification is the long term answer. This will require close work with a local veterinarian to work out a plan to help the problem.

The 28 week old cat is old enough to spay now. Even if she is inside only we recommend spaying. At the sanctuary we spay at 6 months.

We do not recommend cats going outside, unless they are in an enclosure. Outdoor cats have a dramatic reduction in life span due to the inherent dangers encountered there. It would be better to work out a plan where the bengal could always be with you.

Allowing the dogs to stay out overnight is dependent on the conditions. The environment must be safe, no extremes in temperature, good shelter, and there must be adequate food and water.
