I have a question about…male cat spraying

We have a problem with spraying. I have a 9 year old adult cat that has been neutred since 6 months old. He has never sprayed. We just acquired a 9 month old male cat who has just been nneutered (3 days ago). He has started spraying and I don’t know what to do. The area that has been sprayed has been in the adult’s cat’s bedroom, litterbox and the kitten actually got on my bed and sprayed my comforter and pillows. I don’t want to get rid of the cat, just don’t know what to do. Please help.

  • Dr. Gaylord Brown:

This may subside naturally once the hormones are out of the cat’s system. Neutering just three days ago doesn’t change much immediately. Progesterone injections may help to break the habit. Use of a feline odor neutralizer is imperative to prevent on going spraying.
