I have a question about…lung tumor in my dog
My vet said my chihuahau/dachs has lung tumors. She first diagnosed as pneumonia but took 2nd xrays 2 weeks later and said it was tumors and it spread quickly in 2 weekks, and probably wouldn’t be long for him. She put him on Prednisone & Thophylline to keep him comfortable. Should I get another opionion? Its been 4 weeks since diagnosis and I haven’t seen a change for the worse in him-his breathing is shallow but he’s still eating and barking normally. Could she be wrong? Is it stressful for dogs to get xrays? I’m very confused what to do.

A second opinion is always valuable, especially with such a serious diagnosis. It is not generally stressful for a dog to get xrays. Additional diagnostics, including testing for coccidiomycosis and a fine needle aspirate of the lungs , could help confirm the diagnosis. Chemotherapy is a real option as are the use of nutraceuticals. We use have used hemp oil, turmeric, and will now be using mushroom extract as adjuvant treatment for tumors. The important thing is to keep your friend comfortable for as long as possible.
