I have a question about…hip dyspasia

Greetings:

I have a 3 y/o female golden retriever, last year she was diagnosed with hip dyspasia, on both hips, my vet suggested surgery, but due to the financial cost, we can’t do that. So she next suggested a supplement called “OsteO-3″ tablets, thay seem to work fine, but we were wondering being this supplement is mostly Glucosamine HCI, MSM with a long list of other ingredients, is there a human supplement that we can substitute for this OsteO-3 pill?

Thank You!

  • Dr. Gaylord Brown:

Human glucosamine/chondroitin products can be used with success in dogs. Osteo-3 contains 500 mg of glucosamine and 400 mg of chondroitin. Try to duplicate as close as possible the amount of these products with the human product you use and she should do well.
