I have a question about…Dog’s bad breath.

Hi I have a Cairn Terrier mix named Colby. He is a rescue that we believe is around 1 1/2 old. When he hit a year his breath became awful. He does have issues with food. I’ve tried him on many different diets but he will have diarrha. He is now on a can food and doing good. The breath is not. I do brush his teeth often and tried mouth sprays and charcoal dog biscuits give him diarrhea. Nothing seems to work. Can you think of anything I might of missed? Thank you.

Has his mouth been examined for retained baby teeth? This may cause bad breath. Also, in those dogs that cannot tolerate charcoal biscuits, I have had some luck with aloe vera juice. A tablespoon twice daily may help.
