I have diabetes. I use a test trip & lancet blood glucose test 3 times a day. But since my dog seems to me but in a dog body, he aways does what I do, it actually funny but thats too long of a story. two years ago I noticed he was getting wierd & I realized he was always so tight to my legs when he slept in my bed that he was absorbing the pian medications I take (Fentanyl on my arm & the vicodin I take 6 times a day) so I changed my sleeping habits to wear pajamas instead of plain boxers. He no longers sleeps tight to my skin so all is good on his weened from my prescriptions or is he? I drink alot of water & seriously, he follows me into the kitchen & drinks his water, if I gulp my water bottle, he literaly laps up his whole bowl. So I got worried & bought a smaller bowl. Now I am wondering if he could be diabetic, but I am a victim of this harsh economy & being that I am disabled & use a walker & no job, I live on less than $600 per month disability. Since you are a hero, I mean you are a blessing to our world. You answer all of these questions for FREE & God Bless you. I wish there were more giving caring people in this world like you. My question is, can I test his blood glucose with my meter & test strip? I am aware there may be a different reading to adjust to the differences from an animal’s level to mine, but it makes sense to me that the same basic theory, it should work? Since I cannot afford to pay my GREEDY EXPENSIVE VET (literally $150 per visit + another $100 or more for only 8 minutes of actual {him to dog} ratio), I certainly can no longer afford this Vet to ask him this question. There are less expensive Vets 30 miles from where I live, but I live in the Rural area, so he gets his money. I do not drive, no car. can I test his blood glucose with my meter & test strip?
