I have a question about…dead spots in lawn from female urine.

Recently I heard that if you put vinegar in a female dogs drinking water the urine will not cause dead spots. I have an approximately 14 year old female chihuahua weighing 5 pounds and in good health. Her dish hold 2 cups of water but I don’t know how much vinegar to use. I’m thinking 1/4 teaspoon. Do you think that is enough?
Regular vinegar or applecider?

Thank you very much for your help.

I have heard this before but frankly I have never seen it work or spoken to someone who had it work. If you want to try it I do not believe it will hurt the dog. I would advocate giving 1 tsp. orally twice daily. You can try to get her to drink it in water but using a dropper or syringe and giving it as a “dose” might be easier. I think the apple cider vinegar may be more palatable. The only thing I have seen work is to hose down the area immediately after the dog urinates on the grass.
