Alkaline water for cats
I am having alkaline water from the Carlsbad Spas artesian wells delivered to my home. Is it OK to give this water to my cats as well?
Also wondering about using it in the hummingbird feeder. I hate to allow any living thing to consume the San Diego tap water.

I have seen a number of sites touting alkaline water for pet health benefits. However, if a cat is prone to struvite formation in the urine this alkaline water may actually be a problem. Further, many alkaline water sources have silica, which may cause silica stones in the urinary tract. There is little hard science behind the use of alkaline water for health benefits and in the case of a cat it may actually be harmful.
