I have a question about a wart like growth on bottom lip of golden retriever
Hello! My eight month old golden male has a white/yellowish wart like growth attached to his bottom lip towards the back crease of his mouth. He has had it about one month and it has grown. It is the size of a raspberry and has the pattern of a closed rose. The growth is somewhat hard and rubbery.
The cost my vet quoted seems excessive (range from $336 to $666)withthe higher end including a biopsy ($126).
Do you have any idea what this could be? thanks so much

For such a young dog, I would suspect a histiocytoma. It could be a wart, but only if it is on the non-haired region of the lip. Histiocytomas can be treated with intralesional injections of cortisone. Warts typically need to be removed.
