A spot on my yorkie’s skin.

I cut my yorkie’s hair last week because she had a few matted. Cut it really short so it could grow back and be kept brushed. I noticed a small spot of dry flaky skin about the size of the end of my thumb. It was raised up a bit. Now it has gotten to be about 2″ around. There is hair growing there, she don’t have a bald spot and it doesn’t seem to bother her very much. She will be 1 year in 8 days. What do you think this might be and what can I do for it? Also, she is in heat and we have a male cocker spaniel is there a chance of them breeding? they have about a 35lb weight difference

The scaly lesion may be seborrhea or ringworm. The treatment is very different, depending on the diagnosis; so please have this lesion examined for proper advice on treatment. A good start would be to bathe in a sulfur based shampoo, once weekly. It is possible for breeding to take place in this situation. Please have your pets spayed and neutered!
