I have a question about…
cats, dogs and birds. Can they get conjunctivitis or something like it? My JRT came inside today and on one eye had a ring of white gunk around one eye and has been pawing at it. I ask because I also own one cat, 2 cockatiels and an umbrella cockatoo, a pit/lab,a springer spaniel, and a pom/peke.

Yes, all animals can get a conjunctivitis. Your JRT situation may be from something getting into the eye. If this is so it would not be contagious to others. Infectious conjunctivitis can cross species. An exam by your local vet is in order.
