Grand Mal seizures

My 16 year old Lhasa Aspa was diagnosed with Grand Mal Seizures. When she has an attack we use liquid valium rectally on her which takes her out of seizure. She also seems very disoriented all the time, forgetfull, she will go out at 3am to urinate and start barking again 5 min later, this can go on all night, Also she is blind. How can we help her with seizures and are they common in dogs, she is also on Enalapril 5 mg 1 od. Also is there anything for her disorientation that we can help her with. She is our baby. Thank you Elena Sicurella

I would consider treatment with potassium bromide on a regular basis rather than treating only when she seizures. I would also use anipryl to treat her cognitive disorder. Both will probably increae her over all quality of life.
