food with less protein
we have a britnay spainel and princess anne for almost 2 yrs suffered with a skin problem and our vet was so stumped that we together found out that she was getting to much protein in her food. we now praise God have figured it out and our vet has had her on a special food from hills that is for skin care, our vet wants her on this for 3 months.our 3 months is coming to a end and now my husband and i need to find a good food that will not hurt her like that again. we do not want to feed our baby (who is 11 yrs old ) the wrong type of food we do not like the off brand food for her, but she is a house dog and gets excerise but mainly is our house dog. i would love to keep her on hills science diet foods, but if we could find a cheaper one with a bigger bag that would be great. any advice? thanks for your time.

From your description, it sounds like she was allergic to certain proteins. The food offered by Hill’s for skin care uses unique proteins. You may be able to duplicate this food with careful shopping and comparing the ingredients on the label with other brands that are labeled hypo-allergenic. The key is generally using a unique protein, such as salmon or venison, and a carbohydrate such as brown rice or potato.
