The recommendations for the diabetes seems to be a reasonable start. The devices available for human blood sugar testing can be used on pets. These can be a valuable tool for controlling the blood sugar and adjusting the insulin dose at home. Tell your veterinarian that your willing to use such a device and he can help you with its use and how to adjust the insulin dose level based on results. We have successfully controlled diabetes in some patients for years at the Sanctuary. The recurrent surgery may prove a problem. Depending on cell type, there may be a chemotherapy available. Discuss this option with your veterinarian.
