Cavalier King charles, plague and bad breathe
My female Cavalier just turned 8. She has always had a plaque and bad breathe issue. She isn’t a chewer, so chew toys don’t help her. She also has a heart murmer which she has had since being a puppy. Rating is a 3. I know she needs her teeth professional cleaned but my concern is anesthesia. Do the benefits of having her teeth cleaned out weigh the risks of anesthesia with her heart murmur?
thank you

Only her regular veterinarian can answer that question! I can say that dental disease is hard on a dog with heart problems. If they are not cleaned you should at the very least give antibiotics on a cyclic basis to prevent bacterial endocarditis.
