Bloodspot on 14 yr old chihuahua’s iris

My chihuahua has what looks like a blood spot on the iris of his eye. I first noticed it about 2 weeks ago. He also has what looks like a skin tag on the outer corner of his eye (The vet said to leave it since it doesn’t seem to bother him). My major concern is the blood spot – it does not appear to be affecting his vision. The earliest vet appointment I could get is next week, but I’ll a nervous wreck until then.

These lesions on the iris of older animals are generally benign and require no treatment. Occasionally, they represent the presence of a systemic disease or tumor and do require examination by a veterinarian. If there is no pain, swelling, or redness in the eyeball you probably do not have a serious problem.
