Anal Gland Issue

I adopted a jack russell mix a little over a year ago. His name is “Duke” and he is approximately 4-6 years old. About 2 months ago, Duke had a bad case of diarrhea including a large trace of blood in his stool. I took him to the vet and he was given an antibiotic, a probiotic powder to put on his food, and a prescription type dog food specific for digestive problems. His temperature at that time was normal and he showed no other signs of ailment. After a week or so, his stool went back to normal. However, he began to have a liquid leaking from his anus. It appeared to be anal gland fluid so he was taken in to have the fluid extracted from that area. I was also told to keep him on the special dog food. It has been several weeks and he continues to leak from his anus. Everywhere he sits, he leaves a spot. He is very aware of this leaking and licks back there often to try to clean it up. He could be asleep on the couch and then suddenly his head shoots up and he tries to lick his bottom. He has a very short tail so the liquid is visible. When I blot it with a paper towel, it looks like a mixture of anal glad fluid and sometimes blood. Over the past few weeks, I have taken him back to the vet to have the anal glands cleaned out again but it doesn’t seem to help and he is leaky within a day. The only explanation anyone could give me is that it might be related to allergies. Duke is bothered by this issue as am I. It is very frustrating not to have any suggestions to ease the problem. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Please help with any suggestions you might have. Thanks so much.
