Hello dr. I’m having issues with bad allergies in my female English bulldog. She is three years old and 70 pounds. Trying to find a good allergy medication to give her. I used Benadryl for awhile and that’s no longer working. Her ears and around her eyes look brown all the time and her eyes water nonstop. I’m currently using best vest but it’s not helping. Thank you

Chlorpheniramine may be useful. The dose for your dog would be 8 mg every 8 – 12 hours. Unfortunately severe allergies in dogs often require prescription medications for relief. We use HESKA testing to define the allergy. Then we use injections to desensitize the dog. Even with this system we may also have to use prednisilone to give relief to severe allergies.
